During my schooling in the US, there was a Filipino expat who was very proud to become an American citizen and bragging about the modern advancement of his adopted country – compared to the Philippines which is way back in time.

My classmate got pissed off and told our acquaintance, “No, you are wrong! Philippines is way ahead of your time; and even how hard you work, with two jobs, you can never catch up with us … “

The guy was astonished and asked, “How could that be?” As they were enjoying dinner that was becoming awry, perhaps of the wine. 

My mistah asked, “What day is today?”

“It is now Saturday evening!”, everybody heard the response.

My mistah answered back in a one-liner, “In the Philippines, it is already Sunday morning!” haha
